Melinda Janiszewski was born and raised in Philadelphia as the oldest of two sisters. She graduated from Penn State and moved to Florida, where she proceeded to gain a whole bunch of weight. She felt horrible, looked bad, and was depressed. Through a wacky set of circumstances, Melinda met an IFBB fitness pro named Susan Groshek who encouraged her to change her lifestyle and lose the extra weight. She won the Lone Star Plano Texas (1st place) in 2009, 3rd place in the Europa Dallas show, and finished 2009 with a 1st place win in the Team Universe New York show.

Jenny Lynn

Jenny Lynn is a Figure and Fitness competitor who has been very successful in winning competitions. She won the Figure International at the Arnold Classic in 2003-2005. In 2006-2007 she won the Figure Olympia. She used to do singing and dance routines as a child, and evolved into an athletic cheerleader in high school who competed at the national level. After graduating from high school, she started teaching aerobics and dabbling in weight training. Her body responded quickly, and it wasn’t long before she began competing.

She has been in tons of magazines:
Planet Muscle
NPC News
Ironman Magazine
Bodysport Magazine
Flex

Oxygen

Julie Ann Kulla

Julie Ann Kulla is a 28 year old fitness competitor from Minneapolis Minnesota. She stands 5’2″ tall and weighs about 112 lbs when she competes. She’s been competing for about 4 years, and it shows in her arm and deltoid development. She is a personal trainer and spokesperson for Species Nutrition. Julie Ann placed 2nd in Pro debut at the 2008 IFBB New York Figure competition, which qualified her for that year’s Ms. Figure Olympia. She placed 12th in that contest. She says her favorite cheat food is chocolate, which means she’s human instead of bionic, and may have to diet a little extra if her cravings get out of control!

Heather Mae French

Heather Mae French is a figure competitor who hails from Denver Colorado but went to school in San Juan College in New Mexico. Her “day job” is working as a District Sales Rep, her part-time job is looking incredibly hot and winning competitions. She played softball and ran in track and field when she was young. She never touched a weight until she was almost 24 years old. She is now 28, and says her role as a single mom is one of her most important. She is only 5′ tall and weighs 108 lbs during the off-season diet. Heather is more of a fitness model than some of the ladies we profile – it’s evident in how she poses and that sultry look she gives the camera as she flexes. Having said that, she has been in an incredibly large number of competitions (see below).

Melissa Merritt

Drop-dead gorgeous beauty is not a requirement for fitness competitors. Fit babes tend to make a statement with their beautiful bodies, not their faces. But wow, it sure does help when you have the looks to make people stop and stare. Melissa Merritt has that problem – the one where people stab themselves and turn their heads and drop their jaws and pant like overheated doggies. She competed in the 2008 Lackland Classic and suffered a very disappointing 2nd place loss. In many eyes, she stole the show. But she did manage to return to the Fitness America World Championships in Vegas later that year and clinch a 1st place win for Figure Overall. Melissa is 27 years old, 5’9″ tall, and lives in Austin Texas. She is a certified personal trainer, and trains Abby Marie (shown with Melissa in one of the photos below). She hopes to ultimately obtain her pro card and advance up the competitive ranks of fitness competitors.

Deanna Harvick

Deanna Harvick is a muscular blonde bodybuilder who graduated from Texas A&M University 5 years ago with a degree in Biomedical Science. She is a certified personal trainer, and when she isn’t training herself or somebody else, she runs a cooking business for healthy meals on the go. Dee started out as a figure competitor and surprised a few people when she turned to bodybuilding back in 2008. Her first show was the NPC Junior Nationals that year. Deanna’s abs are – mercy – ripped and vascular. A few others we’ve noticed with veins in the abs:
Samantha Baker
MaryJo Cooke
Sasha Porshnikoff
Tara Merola
Andrea Dumon
Arina Manta

Deanna has an angelic face and in my opinion is one of the prettiest fitbabes out there today. You can find some videos and more pics of her at HDPhysiques.

Monica Guerra

Fitness competitor Monica Guerra lives in Venice Beach California. She stands 5’2″ tall and weighs in at 117 lbs. She did well in 5 different shows back in 2005, but I only see one show she was in during 2006, and can’t find any since then. As a youngster, she was involved in ballet, gymnastics, track and field, and volleyball. She started lifting weights to balance out her upper body with her strong legs. Monica seems to maintain a trim figure year round, and really gets into fitness and nutrition. Her favorite piece of fitness equipment is the leg extension machine.

Minna Pajulahti

Minna Pajulahti is a gorgeous 25 year old fitness competitor from Finland. It is hard to keep up with Minna. She works as a flight attendant, teaches aerobics, and competes internationally as a member of a group called the Dream Team Dancers (she placed 2nd in last year’s World Championships in Japan). She competed in gymnastics for almost a decade, and has also been involved in cheerleading. She tore her ACL recently and that has proven a challenge that she never anticipated. Minna placed 2nd in her class at the 2010 Arnold Amateur Fitness Competition.

Cindy Phillips is Big

It has been a couple of years since we profiled Cindy Phillips. She is now 24 years old and is the youngest Pro in the IFBB. The amount of muscle Cindy packs on her 5’1″ frame is amazing, especially considering how young she is. Her pro debut is coming up in about 8 weeks, and needless to say Cindy is in the throes of a serious contest prep diet and training regimen. She has a hard time with the low carb, low fat, high protein diet, and says she craves sugary stuff. She has such a pretty smile!
